A restorative Reiki treatment

Reiki bringing light and energy to the client.

Reiki is a Japanese natural healing modality. Our bodies are made up of energy patterns that are constantly moving. When under stress or when traumatized, even by something as simple as a stubbed toe, the energy tends to kink up or short circuit causing pain and sometimes, emotional distress.

The word Reiki most commonly means universal (rei) energy or spirit (ki). The Western pronunciation is “ray key”. It refers to this universal energy that flows constantly. As a Reiki Master, Beth uses hand placement on or above the clients body,  meditation, and intention to direct and assist the flow of healing energy.

This process can be likened to breathing air. Though we don’t see the air as we inhale, we know we are breathing and are in distress only if we can’t breathe!  The lack of oxygen in our lungs is analogous to what we experience when we lack the life sustaining energy for our body. Too much or too little oxygen is harmful and creates imbalance that can be debilitating, even life threatening. The same is true of this life giving energy (reiki) that surrounds and permeates us.

The therapeutic practice of Reiki utilizes the energy fields surrounding and within the physically visible body. We can increase refreshing, uplifting energy to restore a rich flow of energy (Ki).

Just as the air that we breathe consists of different vital parts, Reiki consists of a compilation of different frequencies at specific percentages. When channeling Reiki, we are channeling vibrational frequencies that the body needs. By undergoing an attunement process and providing a clear channel for Reiki with appropriate intent, the emotional, mental, and spiritual parts of ourselves are brought back into alignment with Spirit. This allows the physical body to come into balance and proper alignment. Disease is dissipated and the client is restored to health.

Distance is meaningless to energy and it will go as intended by me to help you wherever you are. Our bodies are smarter than we are and your body will take in the ki (energy) and put it where it needs it. I will keep sending the energy until you have absorbed all you can at that time. Back in “the day”, a man named Naaman was the top general in the Syrian army. He was the Biblical version of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and even lived in the King’s palace.

Naaman contracted the dreaded leprosy, an “incurable” skin disease.

There was a young woman in his household, a maid to Naaman’s wife. She’d been taken prisoner when Israel had been conquered by the Syrian army. She sent word to Naaman that if he would go to the priests in the land of Israel, they  would be able to be heal him. Because of her exemplary behavior in all other situations, he believed her and set off for Israel. When he arrived at the temple, the priests had already  heard about the request and sent word our to him by servant, to tell Naaman that to be healed he should go bathe in the River Jordan seven times. Well, even back then the River Jordan was polluted, dowright filthy,  and it would’ve been disgusting to bathe in.

Naaman was MAD!

He furiously stormed around, “Don’t they KNOW who I am? My army CONQUERED them! How can they treat me this way? That filthy river can’t cure me!” and so on…

Finally, one of his own servants, a man who’d ridden with him for years and was probably one of his best friends, despite the differences in rank and social status, said to him, “Master, if they had told you to do something complicated wouldn’t you have done the thing which they’ve asked? “They’ve told you to do something simple. Why not go do the thing? If it doesn’t work, THEN come back and have an attitude.”

Naaman humbled himself, bathed seven times in the River Jordan, and by the seventh time he was, indeed, healed of leprosy. Healing CAN be simple, and just like Naaman, “After all you’ve been through…it’s time to get better.”
